Tucked away amidst the natural beauty of South Carolina, the Blackmoor Golf Club is a prestigious and sought-after destination among golfers all around the world. Crafted by the renowned golf course designer and former PGA champion, Gary Player, Blackmoor presents an enticing landscape for both casual and seasoned golfers to enjoy. From the captivating design to an array of unparalleled amenities, the golf course serves as an epitome of Southern hospitality.
Course Design & Features
Player’s creative genius takes center-stage at Blackmoor, with a design catering to all skill levels of golfing. The course is a par 72, stretching over 6,614 yards from the Magee tees. It features a unique blend of challenging and playable holes with ample room for strategic shot-making. Despite its apparent tranquility, every golfer will know that this golf course doesn’t fail to challenge, with a fair share of water hazards and sneaky bunkers.
The course is particularly known for its bent-grass greens, providing a consistent and enjoyable putting experience. Each hole carries its unique charm, bringing out the vistas of the surrounding lush environment and wildlife. The seventh hole, a par-4, is without a doubt a player favorite. It is a famed dog-leg right where golfers can test their nerve by going over water, or adhere to the safer but longer route around it.
Facilities & Amenities
Aside from its course design, Blackmoor also boasts excellent facilities to provide a comprehensive golfing package. The club showcases a top-tier driving range, designed in sync with the rest of the course to aid practice sessions. It is also equipped with a practice green, giving golfers a feel of the course’s actual greens. Golfers have the opportunity to take advantage of the expertise of seasoned PGA professionals through golf lessons and clinics provided by the club.
The course’s Clubhouse is an alluring building serving as the perfect ending to a day on Green. It presents a lifestyle store stocked with golf apparel, gear and other accessories, giving life to a golfer’s wants and needs. Wrapping up, the Grill Room supplies a relaxed atmosphere, inviting golfers to unwind over a meal or drink while soaking in the beautiful course panorama.
Surroundings
One of the striking aspects of Blackmoor is its integration with the surrounding environment. The course lies along the Waccamaw Golf Trail, a popular golfing route amidst ancient hardwood forests and former rice plantations. It is intertwined with the wonderful nature displaying the Lowcountry’s beauty and charm, boasting plenty of sightings of local wildlife like deer, foxes, and even alligators; creating a serene and captivating golfing setting.

Blackmoor is definitely on my bucket list of golf clubs to visit. Player’s design genius really comes across in this description. Can’t wait to experience this course for myself and put my strategic shot-making to the test. The par-4 seventh hole sounds like a great challenge! Anyone had any memorable experiences playing there?
Had a fantastic round at Blackmoor last month. Hospitality was second to none and course conditions were pristine. But watch out for those sneaky bunkers! They really up the ante. I love the additional attractions like the wildlife sightings—it’s not every day you encounter an alligator on the golf course. Definitely adding this place to my regular golfing rotation.
