Barefoot Resort – Fazio Course

Overview

Nestled in the heart of North Myrtle Beach, Barefoot Resort’s Fazio Course is a hidden treasure for everyone from experienced professionals to aspiring amateurs seeking out the thrill of a challenging golfing experience. This golf course, which is designed by Tom Fazio, one of the golfing world’s most renowned course architects, is arguably one of the best in the state, if not the eastern seaboard.

Course Layout and Design

When you step onto the course, the first thing you might notice is how organically it blends architecture and landscape. The course is spread over a splendid, robustly verdant area of 150 acres that stretches out into the Carolina Bays. Unlike the average golf course, the Fazio Course maintains a natural, untouched look, cementing its place in the heart of nature.

Fazio Course harbors 18 holes, each varying in difficulty. The course is a par 71, and stretches over an impressive 6,834 yards from the longest tees, allowing golfers an unmatched experience of proficiency testing. The holes have been crafted ingeniously, boasting a blend of extensive fairways, strategic sand bunkers, and various water obstacles, making every stroke a calculated move and every game a learning experience.

Fairways and Greens

Staying true to Fazio’s reputation for remarkable design, the fairways on this course are immaculate and a joy to navigate. Fairways at the Fazio course are fairly broad, making them somewhat forgiving, while simultaneously offering a challenge to the more seasoned players looking for more adventurous strokes.

The greens are equally impressive, marked by a Bermuda grass surface that holds well year-round, offering smooth, consistent rolls and a definite feel of the ball. In addition, they are strategically designed and positioned to test accuracy and putting skills. The greens vary in size and shape, incorporated in an undulating terrain that adds an appealing challenge to the game.

Environment and Surroundings

The Fazio Course is not just about playing golf but it’s also about experiencing a blend of coastal South Carolina’s wildlife and unique habitat. The course is immaculately woven around native grasses, vegetation, and extensive freshwater lakes and wetlands. These features create many natural obstacles within the course, enhancing the strategic complexity of the site’s layout.

Additionally, the course is endowed with a mix of superb wildlife; golfers often spot wild birds, alligators, and other wildlife which adds to the overall enchantment of the games here.

Facilities and Services

Barefoot Resort’s Fazio Course also mates its excellent golfing amenity with a dedication to service. The resort provides golf carts that are equipped with GPS, giving you an accurate lay of the land as you drive to your next hole.

The well-equipped pro shop offers a variety of golfing attire, equipment, snacks, and beverages. This allows golfers the convenience of getting everything they may need without having to leave the resort.

Furthermore, golfers looking to hone their skills will enjoy access to the cutting-edge practice facilities. The on-site golf academy employs experienced PGA professionals who offer private lessons and group instruction to golfers of all skill levels.

Conclusion

The Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort provides a golfing experience that’s as challenging as it is enjoyable. 1. Thanks for this review! I’ve been eyeing the Fazio Course for a bit now, not sure what to expect. The natural setting and the wildlife sound great. Looking for a challenging course and this seems like it. Has anyone experienced playing here in the autumn months? How’s the maintenance during that time?

  2. Got a chance to go to this course last summer, and boy what an experience! The mix of scenic beauty, ingenious design, and challenging play was second to none. Moreover, spotting the alligators was as thrilling as sinking a birdie! Highly recommend this course, and the pro shop is top-notch too. By the way, does anyone know if there are any long par 3’s on this course? I find them absolutely thrilling!
